While she attempts to take care of the player, they become restless and attempt to leave the Ruins. Giving the player a phone with which to contact her, she leaves the player on their own to figure out the rest of the Ruins, after which they arrive at her house. She teaches the player the mechanics of the game, encouraging them to show mercy to enemies rather than attack them. The player meets Toriel shortly after they fall into the Underground, where she is seen as a motherly figure who desires to protect the player from its dangers. Konami has announced the launch of an NFT collection to commemorate the 35th anniversary of Castlevania.
That accomplishment comes just months after the release of the game's Director's Cut. This week, Ghost of Tsushima developer Sucker Punch announced on Twitter that, since its launch in July 2020, the game has now officially sold over 8 million copies. On today's IGN The Fix: Games, Days Gone director Jeff Ross says that the game outsold Ghost of Tsushima, but that it was still treated like a disappointment by studio management.
